18 things for right now.

Today my son is 18 months old, which dawned on me during our bath-time this evening. If you are a parent reading this you'll understand the push and pull of how time is all consuming and utterly lost to us.

I love this milestone because it feels like we're finally treading water - not sinking but also not without some struggle. It's a little bittersweet we're not within infant territory but I do feel like I genuinely & sufficiently soaked that stage up. Bless - because at times it was a real zinger.

So without too many more rambles I am sharing 18 things I love about N right now. It is very easy for me to push through days without a grateful appreciation. We should when we can celebrate the ways we love our littles.

  1. N is extremely cuddly. He is infinitely pleased by kisses, being picked up, and OK when I smother him with my face.

  2. His curious thirst for getting outside.

  3. His adoration of his older sister.

  4. His love of birds. Since he was 3 months old. Truly bizarre.

  5. The lack of teeth. They make for an adorable grin.

  6. His adoration of mostly all foods. Particularly a banana obsession.

  7. How he says "nie-nie" (his version of "night night") when I put him to bed (which is ironically also his nick-name)

  8. His bravery at trying to keep up and do all the things his sister does.

  9. The chill that now comes with car rides. They were an early struggle for us - I adore he now enjoys the ride.

  10. His mannerism - I can't describe them but they make him so unique already.

  11. His interest in stacking and building and putting things together.

  12. His sensitive sweet soul. I LOVE this for him.

  13. The joy he gets from sitting in his high-chair watching as I cook.

  14. His scrappy big boy energy. He is fearless in a way I did not expect.

  15. His love of sweeping, cleaning, and clearing.

  16. His determination once he's decided he wants something (debatable also that this can be annoying some days)

  17. His jibberish - I want him to speak using words but I also love this little elf like language he has created for himself.

  18. The way he fits so insanely perfectly into my life when I didn't even realize I needed or craved his love.

Happy 18 months to my not so little man who arrived so very fast but constantly teaches me to slow down and love him. You are my forever little love dude.
